In this post we share the items we keep in our car that have proven helpful on a day-to-day and emergency basis.
Whether you’re taking a road trip or are going about your day-to-day plans, think through the items you may need to get through an immediate need or emergency situation.
We recommend keeping the following in your car:
Car items
- Water
- Contact information for emergency roadside assistance
- Paper maps
- Seatbelt cutter + glass hammer (keep in center console)
- Roll of quarters & petty cash
- (Clore) jump starter + paper print out of how to jump a car
Electronics
- Flashlight or lantern
- Emergency crank hand radio
- External battery pack
Toiletry + Dopp Kit
- First aid kit
- Toilet paper
- Baby wipes
- Nitrile gloves (disposable; avoid latex as many are allergic to it)
- Pain relief (Ibuprofen or similar)
- Electrolyte powder + snacks (rotate every six months)
Clothing
- Walking shoes (boots or sneakers)
- Sweater
- Extra change of clothes, including underwear and socks
Miscellaneous
- Blanket
- Construction garbage bags
- Scissors
- Umbrella
