Packing: Easy Travel Makeup

Reading Time: 3 minutes

This post shares the makeup Engaged Abroad’s founder, Sophia, uses when traveling for a quick, easy-to-apply sun kissed look.

Criteria for makeup selection

  • Easy to apply; does not require special tools or brushes
  • Lightweight wear through the day; can be sweat in and doesn’t look cakey or need to be reapplied often (or at all)
  • Natural “sunkissed” look
  • Variety of colors on offer can be swapped out depending on time of year (seasonality + level of tan)
  • Compact packaging
  • “Clean” makeup where possible

Eyes: Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel

Why we like it: This brow gel volumizes, tames, & tints brows while still remaining natural. With
water-resistant & long-wearing properties, this gel helps keep a traveler’s brows look well maintained.

Eyes: M·A·C Colour Excess Gel Pencil Eyeliner

Why we like it: This ultra-pigmented, waterproof gel pencil eye liner can be worn for 24+ hours and 12 hours on waterlines. This eyeliner keeps it fresh, even after a long travel day where running eyeliner or smudging is common.

Eyes: Trish McEvoy High Volume Tubular

Why we like it: This 24-hour formula allows travelers to tour all day without fear of running or clumping when the humidity or rain hits. Whereas most mascara requires makeup remover, wipes and some elbow grease to fully remove it, Trish McEvoy created her mascara to slide off the lashes with just warm water keeping all lashes intact.

Mascara Face: ILIA Multi-Stick (Blush)

Why we like it: This buildable color stick can be applied to cheeks and lips, perfect for a traveler looking for a multi-use product to save additional space in a bag. The formula is creamy and breathable giving a sun kissed glow and avoiding the chalky blusher look.

Face: Urban Decay Concealer

Why we like it: This concealer can be used as both a concealer and foundation if additional coverage is needed. The lightweight formula allows travelers to apply it with their fingers to cover dark spots and blemishes. There are nine shade intensities, three master tones, and five undertones so the color matched to your skin tone will make your skin appear natural while giving you the coverage you’d like.

Face: Merit Bronza Balm (Bronzer)

Why we like it: This bronzer is a cream formula that can be applied with the stick and rubbed into the skin. The satin finishes allows a gradual build up to provide additional definition when going out for the evening. Travelers looking for a bronzer that won’t crack in a makeup bag or require an additional brush may consider this as an option.

Lips: ILIA Balmy Tint Hydrating Lip Balm

Why we like it: This sheer moisturizing balm can be built up and provides color for a touch of glamour during the travel day.

Lips: Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm

Why we like it: Travelers looking for an ultra-hydrating balm with pretty colors should check out this balm.
