California Garden & Potager: Mulching before Rainy Season

In 2021 our focus is ongoing care and maintenance of what we began last year. We will highlight our thoughts from ideation to production, our observations, learnings and photos as the year progresses.
Mulching
Ahead of rainy season we mulched the yard. We had three Redwood trees die over the past couple years, and hired a local tree company to come out and remove them for us and grind them into wood chips. Over the past two months, we’ve distributed those wood chips throughout the garden. After an unexpected drizzle, the garden smelled of wonderfully pungent of Redwood.
Sunrises & Sunsets
We love the dramatic sunrises and sunsets that late fall brings.
